This morning I am waiting for Gustav to make landfall. I live about 80 miles from New Orleans and we are expecting hurricane force winds here within the next few hours. Last night there was a tornado sighting alarmingly close to where I am.
I have been battling fear.
This morning the Lord comforted me with this verse: “The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything” Philippians 4:5b-6a
Dear friend…Where are you? If I know where you are I can watch the news and follow it more closely to you. My heart and my mind are with you all. I have never encountered a hurricane. Here in Ca. we only have earthquakes.
May the Lord keep you in the palm if His wonderful hand.
Barb, I am in Baton Rouge. The damage to our city is quite overwhelming. Everywhere you look there are trees down – torn up at the roots. Many houses sustained major damage. You can’t go too far without seeing a house that has a tree on it or in it. While I am thankful that the tree in my yard missed my house by inches, my heart is full of sorrow for those who were not so fortunate.

Eirene — I am so sorry to hear about the damage. I am, however very grateful that that tree did not fall on your house and that you are safe.
When does the next storm approach, I have not seen the news today.
I have a song, that comforts me greatly on my blog today and yesterday….Please listen when you can…He is our peace….
We will.
Our precious friend, I got your name from “Southern Fried Mess”. We have not stopped praying today. May the Lord comfort you now.
Much prayer. Barb
